I have terrible sleeping habits; sleeping late and often waking too early, averaging about 4 total hours of sleep nightly. Minus the regularly scheduled crash (about 6 hours of straight sleep) once every 3 months, I manage very well with this sleeping schedule. This evening I began trying to understand why it is that I am able to survive on what seems like very little sleep.
My preliminary conclusion is that with me, good sleep is less about resting my body but more about resting my mind. And resting my mind when going to sleep has always been connected to the environment in which I rest. That means finding the right series of songs or album to slow down my thoughts in order to rest my mind.
I met Ken Ross a few months ago and in a conversation he mentioned crafting a project that would allow the listener to “Kinda” fall asleep and follow him in in a dreamy state. Well, Last sunday Ken released the slightly humorous but appropriately titled “Zzzz EP” and I must say he achieved something wonderful. I do not know if I have been listening to the album the way it was intended but I know I have found a great album to sleep to. For the past week I have been playing that album prior to sleep and I have had nothing but great restful sleep.
For a man whose restless mind runs at one hundred miles per hour, the album has done well to slow me down and put my mind into Cruise Control, lulling me into Dream Land. This may not be a big deal to most but I am often restless and wake up several times before the sun rises. So, to be able to sleep straight through the night restfully is a big deal and the albums that can help me in this effort are very special to me (especially since I have refused sleeping aids prescribed by my doctor).
So, after a week of testing, I am proud to share with you the “Zzzz EP” by Ken Ross.

Sleep Well…
I want this album :-). I agree. Resting the mind is what overall makes for extra energy for the body. I also try to understand how I can go out and get home at 9am the next day and still wake up at 11am, feeling fully rested. Hmm
Great post. The essence behind the music and how it interacts in your life was very well articulated.
This album is masterpiece, and I’m not just saying that because I’m on it, haha…it really is a timeless work of art.
Don’t have any hesitations to download it, support good music!
